Denizciler Mustafa Kemal Ilkokulu (Turkiye) welcomed project partners. Activities on the topic “STEM of Animals” were carried out.
Day 1
On the first day, the guests were greeted by the headmaster of the institution, Eyyup Korkmaz, teachers and their students. The project partners were warmly welcomed with traditional dances and songs. After that, the director of the school – kindergarten invited guests to get acquainted with the Turkish education system, similarities and differences were discussed.
After the official part, the project partners observed the activities of children aged 5-6 years old about endangered animals. Children created mountain gazelle masks, which is included in the list of endangered animals. A reflection experiment with mirrors was carried out. Students working together with project partners created a safe settlement for the endangered stag beetle. A beautiful play “Little Hut in the Woods” was presented. Children, dressed like various animals, told about the friendship of animals, that there is enough space on earth for everyone. The project partners received cute gifts created by children and their parents. Later, guests were invited to a bird-feeder workshop. Secondary raw materials (metal cans, wood palettes) were used for work. We ended the day with an exciting excursion to the mountains, where the bird-feeders were placed.
Day 2
In the early morning of the second day of the project meeting, project partners had a unique opportunity to visit the mountain gazelle reserve and get acquainted with them. Such places are found only in Turkey Hatay and Israel. Expert told about the life of these rare animals, peculiarities of nutrition. He explained why they became endangered species. Later, teachers toured the impressive Saint Pierre Church, located in the mountains in the province of Hatay. It was a unique opportunity to visit the first Christian church to be founded in a cave on the mountain. Guests were invited to visit Hatay Archaeology Museum (Antakya), that is famous for its extensive collection of Roman and Byzantine Era. The architecture, exhibits that reflect the culture and art of the region were presented.

Day 3
The third day started with a visit to the Governor of Iskenderun, Murat Sefa Demiryurek. The governor expressed interest in the project, complimented its successful implementation. Later, project partners visited director of national education in Iskenderun, Ali Haytaz, who was interested in the educational systems of the project partner countries. The director of national education in Iskenderun was delighted with the opportunity to meet guests from distant countries. Project partners visited Naciye Suna Oktay Tekin kindergarten, where the students greeted them with a beautiful rhythmic traditional performance of the region. Teachers were warmly greeted at the Blue Child Academy. It is good to have the opportunity to see how education in different institutions is going. The project partners had prepared presentations about endangered animals in their countries and the ways to preserve them. They also got acquainted with the educational methods used of the project partner schools on the topic “STEM Animals”.

Day 4
On the fourth day of the project, kindergarten students with their parents and teachers invited guests to watch a colorful fashion show. Students‘ parents created animal costumes for their children using secondary raw materials. After the show partners made souvenirs from colorful beads on the topic “Animals”. The day finished with a visit to payas Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Complex and Mosque. We saw 1350 year old olive tree and still bearing fruit.

Day 5
The last day of project meeting started with a colorful students‘ musical performance. Project partners were delighted with the exhibition of drawings prepared by children and their parents on the topic “Animals”. The ceremony of certificate award was held. After the ceremony project partners visited the Hatay Expo Miniature Park, got acquainted with the plants of the region, their healing properties.

We are happy to gain new knowledge and beautiful experiences thanks to cooperation of the project partners. Our next meeting will be held in Estonia.
