Day 1
Vaska Simovska, the headmaster of the “7 Septemvri” kindergarten in Pehcevo, greeted the project partners from Turkey, Lithuania, Estonia and introduced the country’s education system. The project partners were introduced to the activity plan of the week. A group of children aged 5-6, together with teachers, demonstrated activities on paper recycling, sorting, and composting of organic waste. The project partners visited the municipality of Pehcevo, where we were welcomed by the Mayor Aleksandr Kitanski. The participants of the project discussed the peculiarities of the countries’ education systems and were introduced to the authenticity of the region. We were invited to the “Jane Sndanski” House of Culture and visited the “Retrospective Flower Exhibition” created by the students and got acquainted with the traditional symbols of the country and cultural heritage.
Day 2
Project partners observed the activities in the kindergarten in the village of Crnik. The performance “Let’s Not Disturb Our World” was presented by students aged 3-6, dressed in costumes made from waste materials. After the performance we were invited to participate in activities. Using the waste materials for the second time, the pupils constructed a nest for birds and a cave for a bear. We were introduced to the planning of educational activities and the evaluation system and discussed the similarities and differences. After observing the educational process, we visited the Waterfalls of Ravna Reka.
Day 3
Project partners visited the Educational Center for Nature Conservation in the village of Negrevo together with children aged 5-6 and their teachers. The children were taught responsible behavior in nature. The center staff presented the institution’s work and its purpose and showed us the expositions. All project participants introduced their schools, the work done in the field of the topic, talked about the future plans due to the recycling. After listening to the presentations, we participated in the decoupage training (glass bottles were reused to create vases). In the afternoon we had a trip to Berovo Lake and got acquainted with the flora and fauna of the area.
Day 4
The kindergarten children started the event with the eco-anthem “Ecologists”. The headmaster of the kindergarten Vaska Simovska and the Mayor of the town Aleksandr Kitanski gave a farewell speech. All project participants shared their impressions of the week’s activities and thanked for the hospitable reception and knowledge they gained. Certificates of participation in the project were handed. After the official part, we took a walk on the Petko educational trail. We got acquainted with the animals and plants typical to this region. We viewed the local insectivorous plant the round-leaved sundew (Drosera Rotundifolia).
Day 5
On the last day of the project, kindergarten “7 Septemvri” invited us to participate in educational activities. We painted with acrylic paint on recycled paper made on the first day of the meeting, after which we organized an exhibition of works. Together with the youngest children, we celebrated International Bee Day. During the celebration, the children wore clothes made of plastic bags, enjoyed their artwork, performed a song about bees, and invited us to dance together a circle dance. After the activities we visited the primary school “Vancho Kitanov” in Pehcevo. Teachers introduced their classes and learning tools. Then we were invited to the kindergarten “23August” in Berovo. The project partners were wormly welcomed by the headmaster, teachers and the children of the kindergarten.
The first mobility in North Macedonia was a great experience for all of us. We are grateful for the hospitable welcome, the knowledge we gained and the new experiences. Our next project meeting is scheduled for September 5-9 in Lithuania.
